Weeks to choose from:June 1-5, 2020 $225 per child
Times They Are A-Changin’ We’ve all learned recently that change can be hard, but let’s not forget that change can also be fun! This week we’ll focus on materials and projects that change over time, as well as artists who utilize the elements of time and movement in their own work. Through hands-on activities we’ll explore how changes in our lives can help us change the ways we think, learn and feel. June 8-12, 2020 $225 per child Grow With Us We didn’t get the chance to work in the garden with you over Spring Break, so now is our chance! While we get our hands dirty, we’ll learn about how artists use different plant fibers and dyes in their work while making projects with materials from our very own garden. We’ll talk about art’s connection to the earth, and we’ll work on projects to decorate and beautify the garden for the summer. And of course we’ll also have plenty of time to play and grow together throughout the week! June 15-19, 2020 $225 per child Way Back When… Get your time machines ready, we’re heading back in time! This week we’ll travel to different ancient civilizations to learn how our ancestors lived and worked, and how we are still influenced by their discoveries and works of art. We’ll also make plenty of artwork inspired by the past to helps us understand how our ancestors created many of the famous works of art we still visit and learn about today. June 22-26, 2020 $225 per child Mind Over Matter Do you know how we are able to see different colors, or how we can tell the difference between something that is flat and something that is round? This week we’ll explore the incredible power of our minds as well as how artists have used tricks of the mind to change the way we see the world around us. And of course we’ll have lots of activities and games to test the superpowers that lie right inside our heads! June 29- July 3, 2020 $225 per child 1/2 Day Adaptive Camp Session, Morning or Afternoon $100 Say that again? This week is all about language. We will learn about different languages from around the world, and even within our own community. But language is not only verbal, and we will discover how artists throughout the ages have created their own visual language to express themselves, relying on their hands and bodies instead of their voices to communicate with others. July 6-10, 2020 $225 per child How did that get made? Have you ever wondered how a crayon gets made? How about the Eiffel Tower? We will discover the answers to these questions and more in a week all about invention and building. Come discover how some of your favorite works of art were made, and bring your own ideas to life through the intersections between science, art and engineering. July 13-17, 2020 $225 per child Here and There and Back Again Doesn’t it seem like if you wait long enough, everything comes back into fashion? This week we’ll explore how art and design of the past still influences us today, as well as the importance of repetition and cycles in some of our favorite art, music and performances. We’ll also have plenty of time to explore art projects that require recycled or repurposed materials from the past, and have fun guessing what we think will come back into fashion for the next generation of artists! July 20-24, 2020 $225 per child Once Upon A Time… Ever since humans could communicate with one another, we’ve been telling stories. We will discover the history of story-telling in both verbal and written form, and of course story-telling through art and performance! There will be plenty of time for creating stories of our own, and discovering how we can communicate our thoughts and ideas to others through art making. July 27-31, 2020 $225 per child Up Above and Down Below We’ll talk about everything from a tiny ant farm to the giant galaxies above our heads this week. Patterns and systems can be found in things so small that they can only be seen with a microscope all the way to things bigger than our planet! We’ll discover how artists are inspired by patterns naturally found in nature, and we’ll discover the world around us both below our feet and above our heads! August 3-7, 2020 $225 per child 1/2 Day Adaptive Camp Session, Morning or Afternoon $100 Now you see it, now you don’t… Art and Illusion have always gone hand-in-hand. This week we’ll discover ways that artists old and new use materials and processes to trick the eye of the viewer through optical illusions and visual tricks. Of course there will be plenty of time to come up with our own tricks and illusions and use them to change the way we see and experience the world around us! August 10-14, 2020 $225 per child Let’s Celebrate! As we celebrate the last week of Summer break, we will learn about the ways different cultures get together and celebrate!
