JEN LEE REEVES
Jen is collaborating with wax artist and VP of Administration at N.H. Scheppers Distributing Co, Jamie Scheppers. Their project journey will be documented by talented filmmakers Li Lin, Easton Kerns!
Jamie Scheppers grew up around the arts. Between dance, piano, and voice lessons, and band or musical theatre rehearsals, she kept busy! More recently she found her way back to creativity through painting. She began making encaustic art in 2016 after attending a one-day workshop taught by Elise Rugalo at Orr Street Studios and was hooked by the process. She particularly enjoyed how different effects could be created by layering and heating over and over. The wax can sometimes be hard to control, so it helped Jamie let go of perfectionist tendencies and focus more on exploring techniques.
More recently she began making jewelry out of abstract watercolor paintings. Her first pieces were given as Christmas gifts to friends and family. She made them from doodles she had done to ease tension after stressful days as VP of Administration at Scheppers Distributing. Encouraged by the reception of her gifts, she founded JL Scheppers Art, the business. She considers her jewelry to be more of an artistic expression than anything else. Even when she makes multiple pieces from the same piece of art, each one is slightly different from the next since they're all hand-painted.
