July Session Information - Fibers
Each class meets for 2 hours each week for 6 weeks. Additional open studio time is available to students enrolled in a 6-week class. (If all classes are full, please join the waitlist! It lets us know if we would have enough interest to add another class!)
Learn the art of weaving on a variety of table and floor looms; from the simple rigid heddle and inkle to more complex 4-harness looms. The course covers beginning through advanced levels of weaving.
Natural Dye and Inkle Weaving
For the first section of class, students will dye their own lengths of yarn using natural dyes easily accessible in most households. Students will then use their dyed yarn to make inkle bands, learning to warp and use the inkle loom in the process.
**Please note: natural dyes are derived from nature, but that doesn't mean they're automatically safe. Please use caution with all dye processes. Safety equipment will be provided and safety procedures will be covered in class. Parts of this class may thus be held outdoors.
Fibers Open Studio Hours
*Instructors are not available for assistance during these times. Students are only allowed to attend Open Studio if they are able to work independently. Students can bring any fibers work to work on.
**We do NOT hold open studio hours during session breaks (you can find these at the bottom of this page)
When inclement weather occurs, class cancelations will be decided by the instructor of the class. If WE cancel any 6-week classes due to weather or COVID-19, they will be made up at a later date. If class is not canceled, but a student feels unsafe traveling, they can stay home, but NO make-up class will be provided. We encourage you to make up any lost time during open studio hours and ask about any material missed during the following class.
Your instructor will contact you if class is canceled. Please make sure they have your correct contact information. If you have any questions about our cancelation policy, please don't hesitate to email us at email@example.com
or call us at 573-875-0275.
We frequently offer a limited amount of FREE spots for low-income families or individuals who are interested in any of our programs! If you want to apply for future consideration when spots become available, find more information on how to apply, here!
If you cancel in enough advance before the registration deadline (usually 2 weeks before the session starts), you will receive a full refund. If you would rather, you may be able to switch to a different available class in the same session. No refunds or credits are given after the registration deadline (a week before the class session starts). If a class or workshop is canceled due to COVID-19, a full refund will be given, or you can save the payment for a later class.
