Handbuilding - ages 8 & up | Register Here In this class, students will learn basic hand-building techniques needed to acquire a strong foundational understanding of how to work with clay. Projects will include: Pinch pot boxes, coil pots, live planter animal sculptures, and relief tile carvings. Students will learn ways of approaching 3D projects, multiple different ways of working with clay, aspects of the glazing/firing process, and much more! **Please note that this class (along with an age requirement) is the prerequisite required for enrollment in Youth Wheel Throwing in a future session. Students wishing to enroll in Wheel Throwing must attend at least 1 session of Youth Handbuilding and be 11 years or older. If enough interest exists, a Wheel Throwing class will be offered at the same date and time during the September 2022 class session.
Paste & Place
Homeschool Class - 7-12 years old | Not offered in the May session, check out our Summer Camp 2D week for Middle School students! During this 6 week class, elementary students will explore artmaking through installation, creating projects and displays that are site-specific. Students will learn about famous installation pieces and the artists who execute them. Weather permitting, students will complete installations both inside the classroom and outside in our garden/green space! Projects and topics we will explore include: printmaking, wheatpasting, installation art, “moss” graffiti, and window painting.
Fibers
Youth Weaving - ages 10 & up | Not offered in the May session, check out our Summer Camp Fibers week for Middle School students! This class is wonderful for beginning weavers as well as our more advanced students. Students will have the opportunity to explore the mechanics of weaving by working on individual frame looms, as well as learn about other weaving methods used throughout our studio. When available, more experienced students will also have access to table and floor looms for more advanced explorations.

March Session Information Saturdays (CLAY)- Wheel-Throwing
Forms Child Information Sheet REQUIRED for each child. Authorized Release Form Optional- Must be completed if you wish your child to be picked up by someone other than you. You will need to complete the Child Information Sheet and the Authorized Release Form (if applicable) on an annual basis. You may update your information anytime by contacting us at accessarts@schoolofservice.org. CANCELATION POLICY When inclement weather occurs, class cancellations will be decided by the instructor of the class. If WE cancel any 6-week classes due to weather or COVID-19, they will be made up at a later date. If class is not canceled, but a student feels unsafe traveling, they can stay home, but NO make-up class will be provided. We encourage you to make up any lost time during open studio hours and ask about any material missed during the following class. Your instructor will contact you if class is canceled. Please make sure they have your correct contact information.
